Changing Your Pool's Appearance

Posted on

If you have been contemplating making a few remodeling changes to your swimming pool in the near future, now is a great time to get started with the planning process. There are several different ways that a pool can be remodeled, from subtle changes to elaborate transformations. If you are trying to do your remodeling on a budget, there is still an abundance of different style changes or theme additions that can give your pool that new look without breaking the bank. Here are some ideas to consider when changing your own swimming pool.

Change The Interior

The inside of your pool can give your pool its character. If you have a concrete-bottom pool, you can add a layer of tiling to give it an entire new personality. If you would rather keep things inexpensive, recolor the concrete with a new coat of paint. Another way to change the inside is by replacing the existing liner. You could add tiling to the sides of the pool instead of the entire bottom, if desired. All of these layers can give your pool an entirely different appearance.

Decking Material

Another thing to consider would be changing the material used for the decking. The deck of your pool can be constructed from many different kinds of flooring, and each one has its own distinctive personality. Consider using a deep, rich wood to give an exotic flavor to the pool. If you would rather, using pre-cut pavers can be an easy way to switch the flooring yourself.

Extra Features

There are several ways to add a splash of fun to your swimming pool. If you have children, you may want to add a slide to the mix. These can be easily installed for hours of fun for the smaller set. You could add a diving board if you have a deep-water pool. If you would rather have additions that relax, use some landscaping to construct a rock formation where a waterfall can run into your pool. You could add jets or small fountains for a bit of flair.

Furniture

The surroundings of your pool area are just as important as the pool itself in giving it some character. Pick out your furniture with a theme in mind. Try using tiki torches and brightly-patterned chair cushions to make your pool feel beachy. Use plants to your advantage to further give your area some personality.
